LAS VEGAS, NV (Nov. 7, 2023) – On Saturday, October 28, Credit One Bank in partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation hosted a tree-planting event at Aloha Shores Park, where 43 Credit One Bank employees planted 30 trees.
A pillar in the Las Vegas community, Credit One Bank announced their partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation, the world’s largest membership nonprofit dedicated to planting trees, earlier this year in support of their conservation efforts. Through this partnership, Credit One Bank funded the planting of 250,000 trees in Oregon’s Bootleg Spring, supporting the foundation’s restoration efforts after a devastating fire ravaged the area in 2021. Additionally, through the support of the Arbor Day Foundation, Credit One Bank is able to hold planting events in Las Vegas to assist with local air quality and help create more shaded areas to lower air temperatures.
“Community involvement is crucial to us at Credit One Bank, and we are beyond grateful to the Arbor Day Foundation for providing us with this unique opportunity to give the Aloha Shores Park cleaner air and more shade through the power of planting trees,” said Todd Mayhew, Chief Human Resources Offices at Credit One Bank. “I appreciate each and every Credit One Bank employee who donated their time and effort to improve our community, and value the relationship we have established with the Arbor Day Foundation.”
“The Arbor Day Foundation is dedicated to helping our local planting partners unlock the transformative power of trees in their community,” said Dan Lambe, chief executive of the Arbor Day Foundation. “Trees clean our air, cool our cities and improve the lives of the people around them. We’re happy to help Credit One Bank maximize the impact of their urban canopy and inspire more people to engage with nature in a meaningful way.”
Trees offer vast benefits for the community at large. Thriving urban forests bolster human health, from encouraging physical activity to reducing respiratory illnesses stemming from air pollution. Urban trees filter the air by removing pollution which improves a city’s overall air quality. They also reduce runoff of sediment, pollutants, and organic matter into streams, improving our water quality.
